used mainly in Coles. Use to work with my older phone...but since upgrading to a new phone it doesn't work at all through the self checkout but it works via the normal checkouts.

Thanks for your feedback! This is most likely because the self-service tills at Coles use laser scanners which frequently have difficulties reading phone displays in general. You can always try to move your phone slowly back and forth in front of the scanner until the barcode is picked up properly. If the scanner cannot pick it up at all, it might be best to ask the store staff to enter your card number manually instead. Hopefully most stores will switch to image-based scanners soon so that your barcodes in Stocard can be read in a matter of seconds in the future.

This app is a great idea in theory but it simply doesn’t work in enough places to make it worthwhile. I’ve started carrying my cards again as so many stores don’t have the ‘latest technology’ the future isn’t here yet!!

Hi Bob, we're very sorry about that! Another thing you could try is to ask the cashier to use the hand-held scanner instead, if they have one. Contrary to the scanner embedded into the till, most hand-held scanners already use a more recent scanning technology which can usually read phone displays in a matter of seconds. Hopefully this helps!

Stocard is good in a sense that added cards can be synced across multiple devices unlike beepNgo which seems you could sync but for unknown reasons, I'm not able to do that. I'm particularly excited about Stocard approaching Samsung to make the beaming tech available to Stocard. The cashier at supermarket tills are surprised that my old Samsung Galaxy S4 could "beam" loyalty barcode at the distance of greater than 30cm even without holding my phone still. Just wave my screen around their scanner top (or just direct my phone screen facing their countertop at distance around 50cm) and magically the barcode reader is able to pick up in less than a sec. Superior "old" tech.

Hi - I found that the StoCard app couldn't be read at Atlantic SuperStore, but then using their store app that shows the bar code works.

Hi Craig, thanks for the feedback! That's indeed unusual! Please feel free to send us a screenshot of both barcodes to support@stocardapp.com and our team will check whether your card was digitized properly.

    Dear support

Yesterday I had this embarrassing experience standing in a longer line trying to pay with my loyalty card. After several attempts we're forced to use the loyalty card (lucky enough my wife is still carry them around.)

The app explained the older technology is using barcode scanning.

When I added the card into Stocard manually Stocard added a QR code as there is only an account number on it.

As older systems are using barcodes I'd recommend Stocard to add both barcodes and QR codes for each card. I'm sure by end 2018 there tools available to proactively improve Stocard instead of waiting for stores to move to newer technology.

This would certainly prevent users from further negative experiences.

    Looking forward continuing using Stocard.

Hi Claudio, thank you very much for your feedback! We're sorry to hear about your scanning experience and will definitely think about providing both linear barcodes and QR codes for your cards in Stocard in the future. Until then, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

I've found some scanners don't like it if the phone screen is square on to their beam (too much reflection from the glass?) Holding it at an angle seems to solve this.

STOCARD - Please be aware that SUSHI TRAIN nationally in Australia is no longer accepting any Stocard impressions or card numbers, via your app. This is highly annoying as we frequent SUSHI TRAIN regularly and they are popping up everywhere. I have had to make a complaint to the head office, as they will only accept the actual card and I cannot find mine.

Hi Jodie, thank you so much for this valuable information about Stocard's acceptance in Australia! We are sorry to hear that though and will definitely further investigate this issue. Hopefully, we can increase the acceptance of digital loyalty cards in Stocard again in the future. In the meantime, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
